Black Mountain College, founded in 1933 and closed in 1957, was an experimental liberal arts college in North Carolina, USA. Its progressive pedagogical model and emphasis on creative arts made it a unique and influential institution in the history of American education and the arts. Founding and Philosophy Black Mountain College was established by John Andrew Rice, Theodore Dreier, and several other former faculty members from Rollins College.
